How do people who i dont know, know me?

Question

I went to a private school but did sports at the end of the day at my public school. it felt a bit uncomfortable doing it their because i knew no one their and all four years i never was able to get a chance to socialize with any one their. The part that made me the most uncomfortable their i dont know why was that some how every one new my name and a lot about me without me ever talking to them. i remember my first few weeks their after practice about 10 girls came up to me and started asking me a million questions and flirting with me. I was young about fifteen so i was shy and did not know how to respond. after all of that stuff like that never happend again but all the girls on the track and field team always cheered for me and everything but never talked to me. and the girls off the team in the hallways would always wave at me and say hi but i never had the chance to talk to them because i was never their in time of day.

Some how my name and every thing about me was passed through the school very quickly. is it normal for every one to know you even if you have never talked to them i just dont get how they new so much about me. I facebooked a few of them after and they new everything about me. How did they all know me. Its a big school how did everyone know me so well do girls really pass information around like that so quickly? I never talked to one of them. is this how normal public schools are does every one know each other? including the people they only see at a sports practice never in school. i was only their for practice for 45 minutes the rest of the school every day i was not their. So i never got to get to know every one their but they all seemed to know me better then i thought.

I was not new i was never when school was in session i was only their after school for sports for a little time but it seemed everyone in the school new me. How did they know me i never talked to them? even people off the team new me and in grades older and younger it made no sense i was their for four years and never got to know them or talk to them but they all new me by the end of the four years felt weird.

sorry typed quickly and they did not just know my name they new a lot about me some how like my interests and what i have done in my passed and everything that i had never told them. I did not know anyone thier at least was not aware of it.

if your good looking or smart, or funny, or really athletic, your name will float around. If you were a big nerd who nobody liked then no one would know or care. Be happy that people want to know your name.
