Seek shelter if possible. Avoid trees. If there is no shelter, lay low. Do not be the highest point.

Depends on the storm. Most will not hurt you in the least. However, If it is a severe thunderstorm with lots of lighting high winds, hail, and the potential for Tornadoes then seek shelter immediately.
