The noble gases are the elements in group 18 at the far right side of the periodic table. They are also called helium family or neon family. They include:

Helium
Neon
Argon
Krypton
Xenon
Radon

Under normal conditions, they occur as odorless, colorless, monatomic gases (opposed to diatomic gases such as Oxygen - O2). Chemically, they are very stable due to having the maximum number of valence electrons their outer shell can hold. Noble gases rarely react with other elements since they are already stable. Each of them has its melting and boiling point close together, so that only a small temperature range exists for each noble gas in which it is a liquid. Noble gases are frequently used in lights, for welding and in space technology.

The right most column on the periodic table of elements. Noble gases contain a full valence shell of electrons and therefore are inert and don't react well/ at all with other species

A gas that does not react chemically with other gases. This is becasue electrons in the outer most part of the atoms have filled all of the possible parts that they can exsist (valence electrons). These electrons are the thing that are responsible for the chemical properties of substances

The name for certain gases rarely found in the atmosphere. The noble gases are helium (He), neon (Ne) argon (Ar), krypton (Kr), xenon (Xe) and radon (Rn).
