It happened with me too, I had BSNL broadband connection, where to begin with I was getting bill for Rs500/- per month & then after four months I got shock of my life when I got bill for Rs45000/-. I was told that the download from my connection was too high & as soon I started my connection for any website just to view it that too was downloading & so such a huge bill came to me. I disconnection that connection & got this "YOUTELECOM" connection with unlimited use/unlimited download for unlimited time just for RS780/- per month. Mind you it has very good speed too. Just check the website of 'youtelecom' & check if they are providing the connection in your area, I’m living in Gurgaon where they provide their service. As far the present connection just avoid paying them, they will just disconnect your connection nothing more, after all I did not pay Rs45000/- to BSNL they disconnected my connection but could not recover the arrears from me.

Never heard such situation.
Am quite curious to know what will happen.

I had a similar experience with electricity bill. 2 years ago i got a bill for 56,000, when my average billing was between 1000 to 18oo p.m. Actually the meter had a rare mechanical problem which cannot be justified. It has gear wheels for each unit upto 8 digits, the 6th disc representing 100000 slipped from 5 to 7 instead of becoming 6 made a faulty reading advanced by 100000 units.
I had the good luck that the Senior Engineer could visualise this fault and changed the meter and I had to suffer a loss of About 1200 as arbitrary charges.

We dont understand how this GB in modem usage is recorded or maybe hacked if any.
or are there any chances of checking the mistakes done by the computers at Tel Dept. end?

Would love to get an update.

Hope you are not penalised

OK. Here is what you can do. One of my friend faced the same problem. He was charged Rs. 70,000 in bills for 4 months.

First of all, do not commit at all that you use this much bandwidth (even if you have). Report the authorities about problem (as you mentioned, you already did). Only way out is that they will put you in Unlimited plan (Rs. 900/- a month) in a back date probably from August or October itself - that too after a lot of fight (not physical :P) and proving that their billing department is at fault.

Another thing I want to say is, I am BSNL user from past 1 year. 124 GB is too much. I cannot use more than 100 GB a month if I keep my computer on for 6 hours a day constantly downloading at 2 Mbps....hope you got an idea.

Second way out is. Let it be disconnected, use any other phone/internet service. In 18,000 you can enjoy a new internet connection for next two years.

Hacking is not possible with BSNL Broad Band.
You can not access your BSNL Broad Band from any other phone also.
Thus, usage have to be attributed to a particular or group of computers attached to the BSNL Broad Band.
Apparently, you would be required to pay the Bills.
As narrated by Mr.Vijay, disconnection would give you a temporary relief. However, now-a-days, BSNL is also resorting to recovery proceedings for arrears. In such an event, you would be required to pay the outstanding bills with interest.

downloadng means copying anything that is on the internet to your very computer disk. this means that when ever you open a website, some data of the site gets copied on your hard drive. even a site which is opened by you counts as a download. an upload is any data that you send across, be it an attachment file, an applet, a text file, what evr is sent to another computer on the internet is called an upload. when ever you open sites, some down load takes place similarly when u mail some one, some up load takes place, this trtaffic is measured in packets of data, measured in Bits and bytes. 1kilo byte is 1024 bytes. and 8 bits is 1 byte. simplarly 1024 mega bytes is 1 GB (Giga byte) broadband services like BSNL has opened the traffic to 1 Gb according to your querry. hence see how much freedom they have given you to surf the net... isnt it good ??
