Wow, you've convinced me. When I die unfulfilled and alone and my 100 cats eat my corpse, at least I'll have the comfort of knowing all this happens in a spacious and beautiful home.

Okay, so what is your point? Money over people? Things over people? Reality check. You don't save 500K. You spend it elsewhere. The question is do you spend more money by maintaining a single existence or by being married with kids. I think being single is more expensive because you are always trying to do things that attract mates. Nice crib, clothes, car and trips. Hanging out with your boys. Strippers can run into much money for you.

That was my devil's advocate position because I think that you are looking at it wrong. Stay single and without kids because you are a grown person capable of making the decision that you don't want to be tied down like that. But to say that you save $500K is not only inaccurate it is silly.

I can believe that number as it pertains to children but I don't believe it when it comes to marriage alone. For instance, with marriage you spend money on all the same things you would as a single person.....food, rent/mortgage, bills, car payment, etc. So that money would've been spent anyway and the same goes for the spouse....put the 2 amounts together that you would've spent anyway as a single person and I find it hard to believe that each person spends a tremendous amount more being married.

Wow, putting a price on love...what is our world coming too. I'd never trade my child for $$, she's my joy, my inspiration, my smiles, my love. Seriously, since she's been born, I've seen life in a whole new way. Can't put a price tag on that.

Wow... I'm going to make that much in my lifetime? J/K... I know that my husband & I don't have kids and don't plan to so far. All of our friends are jealous because we have so much more money than they have for luxuries. I would say that is a perfectly true statement you made.

That might be true.

I can't put a pricetag on my sons though, they are awesome and two of the funniest people I know! Handsome too!

So? You're also missing out on the two most important things in life.

And how many people do you know that have not gotten married or had children have that in their bank account?
