This way, I can run wire for a subpanel branch thru the same pipe used to feed the subpanel. The wiring from the main panel to the subpanel would be continuos and unspliced.

As long as you can pull the wire through the pipe and don't cause any damage to the insulation, Knock Your self out. You may want to squeeze a little lubrication on the new line as it makes the job easier and no friction
