Well I drink in moderation and when I do I don't kill anyone, I don't rob anyone, I don't fight anyone. I laugh my a$s off, have a great time and wake up with a slight headache. Nothing wrong with it in my book.

i dont drink because my mom is a drunk and my grandmother drank herself to death(literally) and every day i had to help her empty her puke bucket and help her stand up to use the bathroom or even eat....all because of drinking i am mentally scarred for life and it killed my grandmother and my stepfather in a hunting accident(drunk hunter)

I used to, when I was a student. But now I have a totally different lifestyle - I live out in the country and have work to do 7 days a week 365 days a year. My paid and voluntary jobs are all based around taking care of people or animals and if I didn't do it they would be left in the lurch. So I can't afford to get hung over and sick on a regular basis.

Aside from that, I just don't like the taste of alcohol. I never really did, but in the past I put up with it to have a good time and fit in. Now I no longer feel the need - I have just as much fun with my new friends in sober activities.

I also had a couple of bad experiences involving alcohol which I have no desire to revisit.

So now its a win-win situation and life is good.

Although I do drink alcohol, it is very little and usually when on holiday a few times a year.

The first reason is taste, I simply do not like the taste of alcoholic drinks. They are all a compromise to me, something you put up with purely because it's a means of getting alcohol into the body. If I feel like drinking something there are countless alternatives that are much tastier in my opinion.

Secondly my personality, I don't like to feel I am out of control of myself or leaving myself vulnerable. So for that reason it is exceptionally rare that I am significantly drunk.

I personally have always thought that alcohol tastes vile. For that reason i do not drink (not even on my wedding day).

My father has never drank in his like, and my mother only drinks small amounts on special occasions.

I also have an aunt who has a drinking problem (she has stolen off her own mother and sibings to get money for alcohol), so that is also another factor in my choosing not to drink.

I am now pregnant, and have not had to worry about cutting out alcohol as it has never been a part of my life. If it intresest you, i do not smoke either, and refuse to let anyone smoke in the same house as me (politely ask them to go outside if they want to smoke) and that includes my husband.

Because I am under 21 and 21 is an important birthday to me. If I drink now, there will be no fun in drinking on my 21st. It'll spoil my birthday and I am looking forward to that birthday. Other than that, I don't think I would drink very much anyway. I'm strong enough to take care of my own problems without trying to forget them by using alcohol. I can have fun with my friends. Plus, I act drunk enough anyway, people can't tell the difference anymore.

I drink very occasionally. My grandfather was a drunk, and as a result of growing up seeing his mum being beaten and abused my dad is teetotal and has been all his life. I had a relationship with an alcoholic for fifteen months and it was quite literally soul destroying; the lies, the deceit, the memory loss, the split personality, it crushes you inside. I don't ever, ever want to be like that.

i don't see why i should. sure, my life can be crap at times but i can get through it much easier if i was in reality and not someplace out of my head. i'm happy enough without it, and besides i can use the money to buy useful things. almost everyone i've met has drank at least once and they're not even 18 yet, so why should i become another clone of some stupid kids who think it's great to go out and look like complete dumbasses.
i don't really fancy getting an addiction either.

I'm not really fond of the taste, plus my mom is an alcoholic, and so is her mom. They both just dumped their kids off with their dad (in my case, my step-dad). I've seen the bad that can come from it, and honestly, I'm terrified of doing the same thing to my children in the future. It's better to not start than to try to quit later on. Plus, I have Med school in a few years to think about. I can't afford to waste the time or money boozing it up with friends.
