Mine was someone I knew in high school, but didn't have much in common with. My mother contacted hers during the summer, while we were both away, to suggest that we room together and they (the moms) filled out the forms for us. I guess they were early helicopter parents! In any case, we had a really rough year, probably mostly due to the fact that I was trying to become someone rather different than what I had been perceived as in high school, and she wanted to stay exactly the same as she had been. I will fully acknowledge now that most of our problems were my fault. After freshman year, we each found other living arrangements, and I haven't seen her since college.

I didn't hate them, but I wasn't best friends or anything. We lived together, were nice to each other, but that's about as far as it went.

Although I sometimes wonder if I was the reason why they kept dropping out of school. My first semester freshman roommate dropped out at the end of term. So I got a new roommate, a friend of mine from the hall, and she dropped out even before the next semester started. Then I got a third roommate, another from the hall, and she dropped out at the end of the year.

So my sophomore year, I got a single. I figured that was for the best.

:winks:

I;ve been out of college a while, but it seems practically nobody ended up being good friends with their freshman year roommate. After that, you pick your roommate, so presumably, they'd be people you were friends with.

In my first year i was with this girl.. we were practically best friends.. for one whole year.. then..i found out.. she was secretly sending awful msgs to my boyfriend about me so that we'd break up! I was heart-broken with that first experience.
I changed my room.. Now I'm with this classmate.. my new close friend.. and we have lots of fun.. we even study together.. So far so good.. 3 years now ! (fingers crossed)

I didn't hate my roommate, but I didn't particularly like her. It was just sort of something I had to deal with. We had nearly nothing in common, so we didn't really have anything to talk about ever. But I didn't hate her. She was just sort of...there.
