If both people in the truck are going to drive, then both must have a CDL with the proper indorsements. I was a team driver for over 4 years running hazmat loads cross country. We both had CDLs with hazmat and kept the truck running except for fuel stops, etc. Truck never shut off until we got back home for our time off.

Yes. Team drivers relieve each other to keep the truck moving along. Most insurance companies require anyone in the truck to be a driver, which requires a CDL.

yes a team is when both drivers can take turns driving because my husband is a truck driver and he works alone but he has teams working on other trucks

A team operation is when both people in the truck are class A license holders. Having a class A has absolutely nothing to do with insurance company policies. It is a federal law requiring any one operating a tractor trailer.
