Valentine One radar and laser detector is supposed to be the best one out there now. There's an indicator arrow that points to where the cops' radar signals are coming from...even if it's from behind.

The best detector made will not help against the laser units that are activated by a trigger. There is no signal to detect until it is activated, and then it's too late. Many areas are now using these.
