just had a new furnace installed and i smell a small amount of gas when im right next to the furnace was told that its venting that i may smell? is that true its a brand new furnace , connections all seem tight, any ideas what it may be?

Yes, it is normal, but you might want to have it checked out just in case.
The pilot light can give off odors.

No! Not even if it's new. The only time you should smell LP is no more than a few hours after installation, after they had to shut off the gas and reconnect everything, at which point a small amount may have leaked out.
A good way to tell if you have a dangerous amount of LP is to put your nose to the ground (it's heavier than air) far away from the suspected source. If you can still smell it then, call the fire department. It really is better to be safe than sorry!

NO you should ever smell gas NEVER. It could be your gas valve on your furnace! I have seen it over and over again they will check all the connections and never even think about the valve. Have it checked or put a new one in.

if its new, then you are smelling the paint cureing and other stuff bakeing off the furnace,
give it a few days, if it contuniues then call the installer,

No, any smell of gas means there is a leak.

no sweat ,my combi boiler does the same thing only it vents into my rear garden right next to the washing line "nice"
must move the damn thing
