This speech was in response to the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japanese kamikaze planes. Just watch "Pearl Harbor" the movie. It's not a great depiction of the real thing, but it does hold historical truths about the event.

You'd have to be an idiot if you are old enough to ask this question, be an American, and not know who this president is. He is perhaps the most famous president in our nation's history because of WW2 and the things he did in it. I'm not answering this because the answer is so obvious. If you can't figure this out go back to high school and quit doing drugs.

I was not born during this time or before so I cannot answer the third question. At the time my feeling was ________.

Franklin D. Roosevelt's Infamy Speech
December 8, 1941

Yesterday, December 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its Government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in Oahu, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to the Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese Government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. Very many American lives have been lost. In addition American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

Yesterday the Japanese Government also launched an attack against Malaya. Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong. Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam. Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands. Last night the Japanese attacked Wake Island. This morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.

As Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.

Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us. No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.

With confidence in our armed forces - with the unbounded determination of our people - we will gain the inevitable triumph - so help us God.

I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December seventh, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire."

1. Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese on Dec. 7 which forced us into the Word War 2.
2. FDR, Franklin Delanor Roosevelt gave the speech, president of the country at the time.
3. I am only 32, sorry, but when I read about it and saw the films, it was tragic and horrific.
As for the rest: I don't need to site sources for things I learned. You need to do your own reseach for your school reports.

Please don't get offended, but how can you possibly not know this? The speaker was President Franklin Roosevelt addressing the US Congress in response to the Japanese attack against Pearl Harbor, Hawai'i, on the morning of Dec. 7, 1941. It killed about 3,000 US military personnel, it marked the start of US involvement in World War Two. This is very basic, very important information that everyone should know. Do you know who Adolf Hitler was? Who Josef Stalin was? What the USSR was? This is basic stuff that you should know like your own phone number.

first of all, i improve into surprised at how polished his transport improve into, and how finely crafted the speech improve into. If he actual penned that speech, he's a ways extra powerful than i assumed. What extraordinarily caught my ear improve into: "Like different black church homes, Trinity's amenities are full of raucous laughter and now and returned bawdy humor. they're full of dancing, clapping, screaming and shouting that would look jarring to the untrained ear. The church is composed of in finished the kindness and cruelty, the fierce intelligence and the surprising lack of information, the struggles and successes, the affection and particular, the bitterness and bias that make up the black journey in usa." Now, I even have incredibly perception into the black community. I bear in strategies taking a team of black Baptist ministers to Brazil. The purported objective of the holiday improve into meant to be academic and non secular. rather, all I heard from those ministers improve into how lots they have been paid, and what form of flashy, showy vehicle their congregtion gave them. maximum of them wore outfits i might describe as gaudy... Cazal frames, gold rings, and all the different trappings of extra. there have been very few circumstances the place I even observed a glimmer of spirituality. Crass consumerism improve into mandatory. I attended a number of their amenities, and that i heard surprising comments approximately how all their issues have been a technique or the different the fault of white usa. That improve into what shocked me. It regarded like the congregation did no longer relish all that usa provided them; rather, each little thing they lacked improve right into a source of brewing anger. What Obama ignored is that, if I heard maximum of racially provocative statements throughout my few visits to black church homes, he for sure heard them innumerable circumstances over 20 years. it is straightforward. he's with ease leaving this out.
