The GeForce Go 8400 beats the crap out of the X3100.

The X3100 gets it's video RAM by stealing a portion of the system RAM (though you get to decide how much) while the GeForce Go 8400 has 128 MiB of its own RAM.

For office work either graphics chip will have no trouble whatsoever but for games the Intel chip will disappoint you (it's the best graphics chip Intel have ever released but it's still crap anyway). You should be able to play older games on the X3100 but for recent games the GeForce Go 8400 would be a much better choice.
