I'm crocheting hats for cancer paitents right now. It keeps my fingers limber and helps me remember that a lot of people helped my sister when she had cancer (she survived thank God) 7 years ago. My cousins weren't so lucky and I now have an uncle who's battling it and is going downhill. Every hat means someone will have something soft to put on a sensitive head that's sore from radiation or chemo treatments. Tina said hers was very tender those first few weeks so I choose very soft yarns.
I also woodburn, embroider, read and garden.

I am making Christmas cards. A couple of years ago I purchased a rubber stamp set that was Christmas penguins. Walmart has greeting cards in the photo department. They are made for putting 4 x 6 photos in the front of the card. They had one with penguins around the frame. I layered dark blue, light blue and white cardstock and rubber stamped three penguins holding J O Y letters. I colored it like the card. I inserted it into the photo slot. I stamped a penguin holding a sign that says "Don't Peek" on the back of the envelope. It looks quite nice. They have other designs too. I got poinsettias and snowflakes too. It was quick and make a very elaborate card. In the past I've used stickers to make the card to put into the photo slot. That came out nice too.

A lot of people are into scrapbooking. Instead of making something, you just go to the scrapbooking section of your local craft store, and pick out what looks nice. Get an album and some pages too. Then you take it all home and arrange it with your pictures. There's no wrong way to do it. Not the most creative, but at least you're doing something with your hands and imagination. .

I'm with noonecannes. I usually just make a mess. I have enough craft supplies to open a store. I still have the half finished dress I started making for my daughter when she was a newborn and now she's 25. I buy craft supplies with good intentions, but that's where it ends. When I do get around to it I love making bath products (soaps, lotions, salts) and I crochet (carpel tunnel makes that more of chore), jewelery making (beads), poly clay, sew, decorate cakes, paper crafts (decoupage, origami, box making). I guess I just dabble in a lot rather than excel in any one. Now I pretty much just do computer crafts.

Yes Lady G, terribly Crafty here. My house was always full of kids as we would make things all the time. I had the supplies and it was a blast to teach them! I had 7 year olds tole painting pieces of barn wood with little Christmas scenes on them. We would make ornaments out of dough bake them in the oven and paint them with specialty paints... It was just wonderful... in the winter on rainy days I would put an old sheet on the wall and let all the kids just color away! There was always a theme ... then do little plays with the sheet as a backdrop! Ah, the memories, thanks again!
Not making things like this now days... no children around to play with!!! When I went to visit some friends they still had some of the barn wood paintings from years gone!

I can crochet and that's about it on the crafty side of life. Right now I am crocheting sock monkeys and selling them to help make money for my son to go on a History trip to Washington DC. My daughter is the crafty one. She is just naturally gifted that way.

I learned to embroider, crochet and do needlepoint at my grandmother's knee back in the 60's. For many years, I was busy with school, work and raising my daugher. Now she is married and I am back to doing needlework to keep my idle hands busy. You know what they say about idle hands, don'tcha? An old saying of my grandmother's was "idle hands are the devil's workshop" or something like that.
I do enjoy it and it came back so easily with just a little practice. It is almost like a form of meditation. Very relaxing after a long stressful day.
I just learned to knit so right now I am making a lot of long scarves out of funky furry yarn in bright colors. Someone told me there was an organization that sends them to the troops in Korea. I would like to send them. If anyone knows please email me. Guess that would be a good question for this group, huh?

I love to crochet, do counted cross stitch, draw, some other things.
Only Christmas thing I am doing is making special cards for some very special people in my life. Including photos from around here, and special personal messages. Need 4 of them to be done by Monday. Will work on them tonight.

I'm very crafty, but I hate doing crafts ... Never found a way to solve that issue. Having to do crafts aggravates me, so I avoid it unless one of my kids wants to do some, and even then it takes all my will power to pretend I'm enjoying it.
I know I should be happy I have the ability, but even I don't understand why I hate it. I envy people who get enjoyment out of crafts.
