I am 42 years old and have been a sub teacher for about 6 years. I have been thinking about switching careers for a long time. I hate my job!

I love sharks but have no experience nor am I a marine biologist or shark expert.

Is there a shark expert school somewhere?

If so, how can I get a job working with sharks, especially when I have no experience?

Thanks

Depends on what kind of job you want working with sharks.

If you live near a center with a large public aquarium, there may be possibilities to work as an interpreter/guide at the facility - your education background would be a definite asset in this capacity, however it probably pays less than subbing (hard to imagine, I know).

If you have dive experience, they may also require maintenance people to care and feed for their critters, including sharks.

Alternatively, you could try moving to the Caribbean, or near the Great Barrier Reef or something, and operating a dive tourism business catering to those who would like to swim with sharks.

To work as a scientist specializing in the study of sharks, you would probably need at least a degree in biology - specializing in marine biology. You might even need a graduate degree to specialize just in sharks.
