Express 1:2.20 as a fraction in reduced terms.?

the answer is supposed to be 5/11. I'm not sure how they came up with the answer. can anybody show me how they came up with the answer, please include formula.

you can't have a decimal as a denominator (or numerator) in a fraction. So, 2.2 has to be changed; the 0.2 means "one fifth", multiply top and bottom by 5:
5 X 1 = 5, 5 X 2.2 = 11.
