The time it made tears run down my eyes and I couldn't understand it. I wasn't sad. Must have been hormones.

When I was stationed at the Key West Naval Station at Truman Annex, I was running four days a week and playing basketball and football - I was in the shape of my life. I was also a karaoke jock on the side at the incomparable Rick's Bar (a straight bar, people!).
I saw two women come into the bar while I was working the 11pm-4am shift one Saturday that instantly caught my eye. The one that was older, with furs on so I knew instantly she was from out of town, was black and around 50 - not all that to look at from a single man's point of view. The other looked to be about my age (29), a beautifully-shaped Latina bombshell whom gave me a feeling that she wasn't the bar type. I was very curious but had a show to do - besides, I'd seen so many beautiful women walking around since there was a strip club in the complex, it didn't matter about the eye candy. But something told me this lady wasn't just for eyes. She wasn't flashing any wardrobe except a nice pair of furry boots, but I noticed her jeans and blouse as well.
The pair of women were thoroughly enjoying my show, and I even got to sing once as my DJ partner Big Al took over. I decided to talk to the two women whom grabbed my attention. They were charming and attentive, especially the shorter, stunning Latina I'll call Martina Martinez. (Her real name also starts with the two same letters, not M's.)
Martina said she wanted to see me tomorrow since I was working, and I told her I was not working either of my two jobs and I would come see her here at Rick's as a guest. We agreed and they both left.
The following night we did meet, and I sang two songs since it was early and the show had not picked up. She was visibly impressed, and after a couple drinks she told me, "Let's take a walk. I have something I want to tell you." I tipped the bartender and we walked towards the docks, sitting down on a bench away from the party crowd.
She began, "You may not want to know me after I tell you what I am about to say, but I want to tell you, so here goes." I assured her I wasn't going anywhere, waiting for some bad news. I'm not sure it was.
She told me her parents were Cuban and lived in Miami where she was born. Her friend with the fur was the director of Spiegel's Catalog for cosmetics and perfumes, and she was loaded with money - she had flown down from Michigan to party with her all weekend. Martina said her friend came to her aid after a mistake she had made.
Martina had a brother in the Cayman Islands whom she had gone to visit about four years prior, and he had been involved with drugs (she isn't). This became obvious when the police raided his apartment while she was there, and they ended up locking her up for four years. She said she just got out, and her friend had paid her way home and bought her the boots.
"I told you all this," finished Martina, "because I haven't been with a man in four years and I wanted you to be the guy."
I was stunned, and I first told her I wasn't going to run. Then I drove her down to the beach on base, got some blankets, radio, and some drinks from my fridge, and we sat down on the blankets and enjoyed the drinks as I told her about me.
The base police told us we had to move because it was getting dark, and Martina seemed disappointed, so I got bold. I moved the car back to my barracks and came back, suddenly picking up the blankets, radio - and her. We walked around a fence that was supposed to separate the base from state museum property, and we snuck in a short ways to a bend in the beach where it was hard to see. Then I spread the blankets out again.
We stayed until 5am, never getting caught, and the experience was mind-shattering. There was no doubt by the way she responded to me she had told the truth. I felt like a man whom had discovered treasure. She was even more beautiful than my imagination had painted. I'm leaving a lot out here since there's some people that couldn't handle the details, but let me assure you this moment of passion is what every man dreams of.
I sometimes regret the decision not to take her as far as the romantic moment would go, but I chose my military career over this beautiful woman. I am married and divorced with kids now, and I wonder if I'd have been better off keeping her and getting a civilian job. Maybe I wouldn't be as rich in the wallet, but helping this woman rebuild her life may have been better.
I still get free drinks at Rick's whenever I go, but even the bartenders I know don't know the secret I have passed on to you here. Enjoy my confession.
