It's our first anniversary Sunday! We did the traditional saving of the top layer of our wedding cake and froze it.

Any tips for thawing it out?
Is it really going to be fit to eat?

Share your stories with me please :)
Thanks!

We did the same, and ours was great.

Was in a deep freeze, not the top of the fridge kind.

Cut it before you thaw it (get hubby to if necessary - use large knife) and only thaw as much as you want. We did that and the last pieces were eaten at 3 years.

Congrats - sounds like you are travelling well after the first year!

Just set it out that morning and let it thaw to room temperature. Believe it or not, we did the same thing, and the cake was actually good!

Happy Anniversary to you!

We saved ours and it was actually ok. We just took it out of the freezer that morning and let it thaw. We were leary at first, but it was good and kind of cool.

Go buy a wedding cake, single layer !! Because after being frozen a year it really sucked....Frost bitten or whatever, just doesn't taste good at all...

It really depends on how it was stored in the freezer for the last year. Mine was edible but tasted freezer burnt. But I also know people who said theres tasted fine. Hopefully yours was stored correctly and you guys enjoy it!

I can't say for sure - it could have freezer burn, or it could be great. If you really want good cake this weekend, I'd bake one on Saturday, just to be safe.

Mine tasted frost bitten.....I wish I just "saved" it....and not tried to "eat" it....Good luck.....(i just let it thaw out in fridge...so it didnt melt all over the place)
