I do not find any fringe groups in the Republican Party. What you have are different degrees of the same belief system. On one side is the old isolationist form of Conservatism led by Pat Buchanan and espoused by Ron Paul and on the other hand is the Conservative-lite such as the Rudy Giuliani. In between are your true Modern Conservatives from the Ronald Reagan/Rush Limbaugh school. This is where most Conservatives currently reside. A strong belief in the Constitution and limited government, a strong belief in free enterprise, a strong belief in protecting the borders, a strong belief in enforcing immigration laws, a strong belief in self-sufficiency and Capitalism.

There are some Liberals in the Republican Party but they are pariah. Conservatives would rather have them change parties than to hide behind our good name.

I suppose Liberal Republicans are a sort of fringe group if you insist on labels.

The Republican Party is a whole group with very few special interest groups. Some might say the Christian right, but thats a mainstream movement with tens of millions of people. The Log Cabin guys? Yeah, but how many Republican gays are out there? 3?
No, you must be a democrat to ask this question. The dems are almost entirely of "fringe groups", like:
Gays-lezbians, Native Americans, Greens, feminazis, eco-wackos, eskimos, street people, radical communists, socialists, ACLU, environmetal nut jobs, Kusinach and the UFO conspiracy bunch, camup radicals for Islam, Black Panthers....lovely people!

If one looks at the basic platform of both political party's one would see they have both been tainted with extremists... Because of this I am an independent conservative...America needs a third party vote that counts and ALL STATES should have OPEN primaries...Instead one such as I am, is forced to declare loyalty to the two main party's so I can vote in the primary... That ought to be illegal as it is unconstitutional! So like many Americans, I change parties so my vote counts... Thats pathetic! Vote the person,Vote the issues not the party!

BTW Jacob, Ron Paul is not an isolationalist as you erroneously stated...I suggest you do your research of the issues, the Candidates as well as the Republican party's failings to stay on course to the party platform of the founding fathers and our constitution...
Personally I review their records not their placative words, nor do I pay attention to the alphabet media ie:cnn, fox, abc.nbc, cbs most printed conglomerates its all the big censored lie!

Focus on the Family and all those other reactionary 'christian' organizations. ALL of the right wing think tanks like the Heritage Foundation. The American Association of Manufacturers and like groups that exist only to overturn environmental laws and bust unions. ALL racist groups...you can bet those folks don't vote for any 'liberals'. FOX 'News' and and all those radio broadcasting corporations that spew out reactionary BS and political propaganda and disinformation 24/7. If had a few hours to type all of them out your eyes would glaze over. Ask yourself....have any of these guys EVER done a damn thing for the American wage-earner? So why the hell would anyone who works for wages EVER vote for these bums? Hey, maybe I'll ask that question! Watch for it!

The Ron Paul campaign. He's obviously Hitlary's version of Ross Perot right out of Bills play book. She's hoping if she throws enough fake support his way the old fool will be emboldened to run as an independent and split the GOP.

I think the most important thing to understanding the Republican party is too know that not all Republicans are conservatives, some are moderate and a few, like Mayor Bloomberg, are RINO (Republican In Name Only).

We are not really into fringe groups. I suppose you could call the Log Cabin Republicans a fringe group but I don't believe they are bringing us down.

The fringes are usually drawn to the Democrat party because it does not take any moral or constitutional stands.

Christian coalition- Because it is possible to be christian and fascist at the same time.

Skin heads- well because it's ok to be a republican and hate others.

Neo-cons - because it's ok to be totally focused on agenda and ignore the real world.

Moral majority- because it's ok to be a republican and beat up homosexuals.

The Minutemen- because it's just plain fun to dress up in army fatigues and shoot Mexicans.
