I have a problem, everytime I try on pants straight from the department store, the pant form very ugly wrinkles around my crotch area, is it my body or am I choosing the wrong cutting for my pants? Please help! Now I'm thinking I can't buy pants from the department store anymore. Tailor pants are much too expensive for me. Any fashion advice?

I think the pants may be too tight around the crotch. Try a size bigger, or experiment by washing a bigger size down.

If nothing works, try the "relaxed" pants. They tend to be looser around the thighs/crotch.

Are you tall? It doesn't sound like a size problem as far as the number size, but a height or leg lenght size. Have you tried a tall lenght? Some stores, or catalog offer a tall, petite, or large size so you might want to try a"long" or a "tall" style. Also, some pants can be bought in a length size, such as 32" or 29" inches long. Try that, or take your normal size to an alterations person and have them take out the crotch seam a little bit to ease that area a little bit to ease the tension to prevent the wrinkling. If you do that, ask before altering if the alterations person thinks that will work, if not, then you can just return the pants. I really think you just need a different cut, such as tall or full-cut and those are usually priced as along the same line as regual wear.

You didn't say what style of pants you favour and wether the wrinkles are baggy or tight. When it comes to regular or formal pants, I suggest a slightly more relaxed fitting pair made of a soft cloth. The stiffer cloth may be harder wearing but it doesn't drape as well and is prone to rucking up in all the wrong places and going into folds.
When it comes to jeans, nothing beats a tight fitting pair, provided you have the body for it, and the creases in the crotch area do look rather sexy. If you have a great body, don't hide it under baggy jeans.

i agree with the first answer you need a size bigger
and maybe you can try a different brand and cut
the thing with size is it's different with every brand
if you get a size bigger and it's to big around the waist just have them tailored it's like 5 bucks and can make all the difference
