For a pulled muscle, which herbs will be soothing if you had to add them to a hot bath?
Thanks

The list of possible herbs you can use is virtually endless. Purchasing enough herbs to make the bath effective, however, can be very costly.

So I would recommend going out and cutting a few small branches of whatever species of Pine, Cedar, Spruce, Juniper, or Fir trees you have growing locally.

Cut them up, and place them in a big pot. Fill the pot with enough water to cover them and bring to a boil. Once the water is boiling, cover the pot with a lid, set the temperature to the lowest heat setting and let it simmer for 30 minutes. Strain, then add to your bath water.

There are also many essential oils that would help such as Eucalyptus, Sweet Birch, Wintergreen, Ginger, Sweet Marjoram, Bay Laurel, Rosemary, or essential oils of the previously mentioned evergreens, to name a few. You would need to add at least 100 drops to your bathwater to start feeling the effects.

You could also make a liniment by adding 1 part essential oils to 9 parts rubbing alcohol or distilled witch hazel, or a massage oil by adding the essential oils to a plant based oil instead. This way, you end up spending less money on the essential oils, and can have some pain relief outside of the bath.

Hope you feel better soon!

Anything you like the smell of will be soothing to your mind, but as far as the muscles go, the hot bath alone is the treatment and herbs don't add any extra benefit.

Hot bath can be good, but for a pulled muscle be sure to follow it up with a nice ice pack before you go to sleep.
Otherwise the heat can just make it worse.
