I think is it a pre 70's film , maybe in B & W.

Yes! "Hell in the Pacific" with Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune.....there is a color version out on Amazon.com

"Hell in the Pacific"..Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune..Great stuff! Lee Marvin,in the Pacific during WW11,knew a little of what he was doing..he was a point man..a sharpshooter who would climb trees and scope out the enemy..by himself..that's pretty heavy by my conception..in Australia later he would go blue-marlin fishing...he would buy 6 slabs of beer for the crew and a case of Scotch for himself and fish...big game fish..awesome critter..would have liked to have known him..Any way..the above postees are correct.
