Ive worked at a hotel for about 10 years & worked every Xmas except 1. Whats your problem? Being spoiled perhaps?
If you dont want to work on Xmas...I suggest you get a job that have 'office' hours, meaning they are not open 24h/day every day like a hotel is.

I used to have to work offshore and was away from the house nearly every year. I even got called out on the 24th at 6:00 pm and had to drive 8 hours to be at the boat dock by 6 am on the 25th. When we got out on the rig, our equipment fell off the boat into the Gulf of Mexico.

The one year I was not offshore, I was on call and decided to drive 230 miles to see family. We did not have cell phones or pagers then, so I was checking in with the answering service every 30 minutes to see if I had to go out.

Another year, I was in Wyoming. Working through the holidays on land, we used a small trailer for our office. I was busy on the 24th and had neglected to get food or groceries. When we finally slowed down, every restaurant and store in the closest town was closed - even the 24 hour gas station. So, I had to wait until lunch at the Holiday Inn to get food. It cost nearly $50 a person (and our meal allowance was only $15 a day).

After leaving the oil field, I once worked for a boss that was going through a divorce. He was fooling around on his rich wife and she asked for $750K settlement. Well, he was a greedy pig and decided to fight her in court. When she showed him the pictures of him fooling around with a younger honey, the judge awarded her $1 Million instead of the $750K.

This happened after Thanksgiving and needless to say, in the 10 year history of the company, it was the 1st year we did not get any Christmas bonus. It did not affect me as much as others who had come to depend on the $$$ for gifts for their kids.
