In a shop you are paying in a checkout. You handed over a note to the cashier, they inspected your note, holding it up and looking through it like you were trying to give them a fake note...

Absolutely not.

Try this - check the notes when they give them to you.

I'm a cashier, and many notes pass through my hands, I feel it is my duty as an employee to make sure that every note is worth the paper that it is written on. I'd hate to let all notes pass me by, then be accused of having part in passing along fake money.

People have a job to do.....it's nothing personal.
I've had my own notes checked.....by fellow employees, they know I'd do the same to them however.....nothing personal, I just like my job.

no, not at all, and here's why.
I work at a fast food resturant, and anything above a $20 dollar bill MUST be inspected, not only by the employee, but a manager if one is available, as well as put under a black light usually found next to the register. Also, some stores may do it for just $20s. They're just doing their job so they don't get fired when they count their drawer, and, oh oh! a fake bill, you're drawer's short now, WRITE UP!

No, not if you gave them a large bill for a small ticket item! That's why VISA is pushing their debit cards so hard, nobody wants to handle cash anymore. It's faster and neater to use the cards for everything! That way the employees can't get their fingers in the till. So think about it the next time you go to starbucks or whatever....if you really want to piss them off, hand them $100 bill (especially if you can find real old ones like 1950_)!!!!! It will drive them NUTZ!!!!!! cause the pens don't work on them and the colors are so old that most of the kids have never seen one!!!!!!!

Maybe it is a European thing, that happens all the time. If I pay with a 100 or 200 euro note the manager is often called. For a 20 or 50 they swipe the bill with a pen.

DO NOT be offended. It ain't you.

No because of late many people use those fake notes and innocent people get them.Like once i was using public transport and got that as the change and didnt realise the note was fake till i went to buy medicine and the cashier realised.

well i used to think that it was a lil rude, but now i understand its not. instead it makes me feel a lil secure about the store. i used to be a cashier, and ppl would always come through concerned about the tender i was handing them. in a few cases i was dealt some fake money. so now when i see ppl checking my money, i know it would be okay to break a big bill there. and for all the ppl who still find it rude, just do what i do....debit.

In the USA they do that to all 50 and 100 dollar bills. I've even seen some places do for 20's.

I'm not offended but I'm used to poor service and being treated like a thief with all the alarm devices and detectors as you leave and the people checking your stuff vs you receipt.

it would be nice to be treated as an honest person but its amazing how many people aren't.
