If you are having chronic bronchitis and/or chronic asthma symptoms, try these items: 1) I was never healthier in my life than when I was macrobiotic and doing dance and yoga. I still pay as close attention as possible to my diet, but have found that I personally need to eat more chicken and fish and even red meat, rather than the 50-80% whole grains that macrobiotics usually recommends. I still eat whole grains, still eat tons of beans, veggies, seaweed (not enough tho'), soups, pickles/fermented food, teas that macrobiotics both recommends and embraces. In Ayurveda, asthma and lung issues are usually a sign of extreme kapha imbalance and stagnation. "Kapha" is the earth and water elements, so if you think of imbalance of this as being mud or sludge--cold, thick, slow-moving, stagnant muck--you get a mental picture of what Earth in an imbalanced state looks like, so too is the Kapha personality. In TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine, asthma and lung ailments correspond to the state of health of the Large Intestine. This is to say, lung and large intestine are a formal organ pair in TCM. I bring this up b/c the contents of the Large Intestine, when examined, and when imbalanced, are the closest thing in the body to "earth", or to "muck", when the colon is not in a healthy state. I found my asthma, which has put me in the hospital at several different times in my life, is greatly worsened by dairy consumption, and by excessive consumption of high fat foods, creamy things, and such items as toast w/ butter or bagels and cream cheese every morning for breakfast. I don't eat ice cream or use cream in my cooking. When I stopped eating dairy and moved to CA, a warm, sunny, very dry climate, my asthma disappeared. I've moved back East now, to Vermont, where the very wet, moist, six months of winter climate aggravates Kapha conditions, am (oops!...) eating toast w/ lots of butter, and bagels and cream cheese, and pizza, and, and, and... again AND I have a cat in my life to whom I am exceedingly allergic, but deeply in love with. (Yup. I've slipped and need to pick myself up again and clean up that diet...) and guess what? I'm having to use an inhaler again, and carry it with me wherever I go. Falling off the horse or wagon is normal with humans. We do it all the time. The point, however, is to get back up on that horse again. To begin again, no matter how many times we fall off.

Here's some things that help w/ asthma/bronchitis/lung issues: 1) Catalyst/warming herbs such as ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, cayenne, black pepper. 2) Honey loquat syrup, honey and lemon, and honey in general. Honey is full of trace minerals, and if local, helps people adapt to the allergens in their locale. It thins broncial secretions (mucous and phlegm) and assists the body in getting them up and out. 3) Quit eating dairy. 4) Quit smoking and being around smokers if that's what you're doing. 5) Eliminate meat and eggs from your diet for a good, long while. 6) GREATLY reduce the amount of fat in your diet--forever. 7) Eat lots of bean and veggie soups, and TONS of greens sauteed w/ garlic. 8) Put lots of fresh juices w/ garlic and ginger into your diet, and drink lots of licorice tea as licorice will calm bronchial spasms. There is also a simply HUGE incidence of adrenal depletion in those who suffer from lung problems, which licorice will help with. It's a smooth muscle relaxant and an endocrine nourisher. It will also help to cleanse the colon. 9) Lobelia helps me, but you need to be careful w/ it, as it's sub-toxic and one can definitely use too much. I have also found burdock, coltsfoot, all the mint family, scullcap and dandelion to be most helpful, as well as many other herbs. If you want, you can email me, and we'll go over each herb and its uses and effects in the body. I also take 100mg of B complex vitamins and lots and lots of C +bioflavonoids on an almost daily basis.

Regardless of what any other twit has to say for his under-educated and blind-follower self, I have both found for myself, and seen in friends, family and loved ones EXTREME benefits from both these schools of medicine. I know Marc Halpern at the California College of Ayurveda, have worked w/ Loretta Liberty in Allston, MA in the '80's and have met Dr. Vasant Lad. These are learned, committed, extremely wise and knowledgeable people with advanced degrees, doctoral study and hundreds of years of study between themselves and experts in the field. They are most PROFOUNDLY not quacks, and I am sick and tired of ranting idiots like Kalos being allowed to freely post his poison, while the rest of us get deleted for telling the truth and for trying to help people. Yes, I do get deleted for having the occasional frustrated outburst at such fools as Kalos, and I go away from this "forum" for awhile. Sorry, that doesn't mean I'm a quack either. Do what you will. I've done my best here to give you some ideas about what's worked for me. Do your own research, make up your own mind. See for yourself what works and doesn't. I pretty much have learned to listen and to learn from ONLY myself and a few selected other teachers. (Tendency towards recurrent) Asthma and bronchitis are often genetic and environmental. Asthma is a primarily constitutional disorder, and can take quite awhile to fix. It sometimes becomes an issues of controlling the symptoms for better quality of life, rather than actually being able to send the condition back from where it came. It is possible to heal it, but it is by no means easy. Clean up the fat and muck in your diet and from your intestines and you will see bronchitis go and rarely, if ever, come back again. I go for YEARS without getting sick at all. Email me for more info if you like.

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his asthma has shown no sign of improving. He has been to several doctors but they didn't help much.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

for immediate relief for bronchitis problem, allopathic is best. Ayurvedic and homeopathy treatment will take more time to cure it. Once it is cured it wont relapse.. But for ayurvedic some diet restrictions are there.

I am practising naturopathy. In this therapy no medicine taken. You go to 'Go ogle' search 'honey cinnamon' and you find by taking one tea spoon of honey with small quantity of cinnamon powder can cure most of our diseases. Try.

ayurvedic and homeopathic are two different branches of medicine..there cannot be any comparison.at times a particular type of medication suits your body better than others...so check if your body is responding to homeopathic treatments.most importantly, have faith and take medications properly on time..homeopathic works wonders altho it takes a little more time..have patience..and get well soon.

Scientific medicine is better than both of them.

Although it isn't hard to be better than what doesn't work and homoeopathy and ayurvedic 'medicine' can't work. If you've got a real problem with you then you should see a real doctor, not some homoeopathic or ayurvedic quack.

i have used all three branches of medicine and all three have been benificial .there people who are non-believers ( ill informed ) in any medication but alopathy .

i personally belive all three have their uses and where there is sustained use i would use alternative medicine.

my choice of altenative medicine is ayurved as the ayurveda been knowledge passed down 5000 yrs . as long as you have patience and not looking for instant results.
