first make it into a y=mx+b equation. So in this case,
-5y+x=-8
then make all the numbers positive by reversing
5y-x=8
then reduce
y-1/5x=5/8
then I'd plug in some numbers like -1, 0, and 1 and use them to graph the equation.

You need to sub in x=0 to find y
-(0)=-5y+8
-8=-5y
y=1.6
Hence, the line hits y at 1.6, the point (0,1.6)
Sub in y=0 to find x
-x=-5(0)+8
-x=0+8
-x=8
x= -8
Hence the line hits x at -8, the point (-8,0)
Then just connect the points!!!
Hope that helps!!

Any line can be drawn by connecting two points.
So to find the first point set x=0 and solve for y. That'll give you your first point (0,y)
Then set y=0 and solve for x. That'll give you your second point (x,0).
Connect the dots..... you have now drawn a line using the equation -x= -5y+8

-x = -5y + 8
5y - x = 8
5y = x + 8
y = (1/5)x + (8/5)
slope = 1/5
y-intercept = (8/5) = 1.6
(-8/5) = (1/5)x
-8 = x
x-intercept -8
connect (0,1.6) and (-8,0)
