So men have a lot of testosterone (male hormone) and as I understand it... a little oestrogen - the predominant female hormone. Testosterone is made in our testicles... but where do we men, get oestrogen from?
If women have some testosterone but no testicles (LOL ~ at least none that I've met so far)... where did they get that testosterone from?

All women produce testosterone. However, women produce on average, 1/20th the amount that men do. It is created by the Ovaries and Adrenal glands, but primarily, in the ovaries. For this reason women with PCOS often produce high levels of testosterone, leading to possibly fertility issues, male pattern hair, and other side effects.
Men also produce estrogen, the same way that women produce testosterone. As a matter of fact, it is important to both males and females. Low levels of estrogen lead to weak bones.

Actually YES women do have a low level of testosterone in their bodies... when the hormonal balance shifts, the testosterone level can become elevated which can lead to increased facial hair etc. Often the occurrance of polycystic ovarian syndrome will begin this cycle of hormonal imbalance but other things can cause it as well. The ovaries produce all of the different hormones in the body and if you think about it, they look a bit like testes, just higher and separated no? These organs are multi-taskers... they produce more than just one hormone.

Testosterone is produced in the adrenal glands and the ovaries of women. It's an important hormone with important effects in both men and women. Estrogen is produced in the testes and body fat of men (and the ovaries and body fat of women). It's very important for men and women--in fact, if you are born lacking estrogen receptors, that is an almost always fatal genetic defect, in men and women. Testosterone is not the "male hormone" and estrogen is not "the female hormone"--in fact, healthy young women have more testosterone than estrogen in their bodies. And women who are post-menopausal have less estrogen in their bodies than men of the same age. Strange but true!

This may clear this up for you:
Androgens are produced in testicles of men and the adrenal cortex of both sexes.
The two main androgens are testosterone and dihydrotestosterone.
The female produces androgens (testosterone) in the adrenal cortex.
The female produces estrogen in the ovaries.
