Ironically, Christmas is not even truly a Christian holiday. It is based upon Natalis Solis Invictus, which is a Roman Pagan holiday which translated into English is called the "Birthday of the Unconquered Sun." On this day, Romans worshipped their sun Gods. Most of the "Christmas" traditions were taken from German pagans, who celebrated the holiday of Yule. Yule is actually celebrated by many neopagans, including Wiccans (a group that claims to practice witchcraft).

Christmas, which is obviously "Christ Mass" is a creation of the Roman Catholic Church which was not followed by the early Christian Church (not in the Jewish form intended by Jesus which was led by James, brother of Jesus, in Paul's form, or in Gnosticism) and was originally intended to aid in converting Pagans. Protestants adopted it in the 19th century because too many of their members were becoming Catholic.

Is Fox doing the War on Christmas crap again this year?

Last December I was in a local store, and a visibly shaken cashier told me that a customer had just screamed at her for saying, "happy holidays", which was probably company policy. The customer shrieked, "It's not 'happy holidays', it's 'Merry Christmas'! This is a Christian country and there are no other holidays that matter!" In my opinion, this irate customer did far more damage to the spirit of Christmas than the hapless cashier or her employers. You see, it's all about intolerance. The message of that statement is that only Christians are entitled to be happy this time of year and those of other faiths shouldn't be wished a happy Hanukkah or Kwanzaa. That, in my opinion, is a very un-Christian attitude. We should respect all of our fellow human beings, and shouldn't wish unhappiness on others just because their beliefs are slightly different. If you celebrate Christmas and refuse to recognize Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, you can take "happy holidays" to mean "Merry Christmas and happy new year". You don't have to carry your extremism to the point where you bite the head off of anyone who would like to wish you a little happiness.

Nobody is even thinking about doing away with Christmas. They're only trying to recognize America for the melting pot of cultures that it has been ever since it was founded. You can have a merry Christmas and your neighbors can have a happy Hanukkah and neither should interfere with the other in any way. I believe that if there's a war over Christmas, it's being waged by certain Christians against all other religions, and I don't believe that's what Jesus would want.

By the way, I'm 48 years old, and for as long as I can remember there have been greeting cards saying "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings". I don't recall anyone complaining about that until Bush and the neocons gained power. I'd say this is just another political battle thinly disguised as a religious one.

Regardless of how it came to be, most everyone doesn't know the details of what you are saying. Fox is definitely a Neocon channel for sure and why they are on this who knows. Christmas to most Americans is a special time of year when we can celebrate the birth of Christ. It could have been anytime of the year, who cares really, but December 25 is it and its not going away, who cares how the pagans did what, it is when we celebrate the event.

Every year the ACLU and other left wing nut jobs file multiple lawsuits to try and keep Americans from celebrating Christmas. Every year some atheist who doesn't believe in Christmas raises a ruckus about nativity scenes. Every year some town council decides to pass a law forbidding Christmas decorations.
And every year Fox news reports on it. As they should. It's news.
I realize that the Christmas haters don't want news coverage. Every year when the 85% of Americans who celebrate Christmas (for whatever reason) are informed about the liberal assault on Christmas they fight back and usually win.
I celebrate Christmas every year with my family. As is my right. You have the right not to celebrate. Why don't you do so and shut up about what other people do that you don't like.

Thanks for the history lesson. Most of us know that Christian holidays were taken from holidays celebrated by older religions. So what. As long as certain people are engaged in an effort to destroy the traditions that have helped make America great other will call them on it. FOX being a news organization that is pro-American and traditional in nature will continue to inform it's viewers about the attempts of the secular left to remove the symbols of our traditions, and change them to meet their view of the world. Thank God for FOX

I have just finished important research, and find Fox News is entitled to 1st Admendment rights under the U.S. Constitution!!!! I sincerely hope more unbiased news sources join Fox in fighting the secular, humanistic, and Islamic attacks on Christians and Christmas. Christmas was and is a beautiful time of religious celebration, and is central to the great Republic where we live. If celebrating CHRISTMAS disturbs you, go join a Muslim cult, or go protest with your cardboard sign in front of the federal buildings on Christmas Day, then join hands with your A.C.L.U. whackos, dance around a fireplug, singing KUM BA YAH, then go home and watch the latest breaking news about Greenland melting. MERRY CHRISTMAS, FELIZ NAVIDAD, y un PROSPERO ANO NUEVO!!!!!

Hey Jessica, yum, beautiful! Just plain Jim read my mind, but the gray Alien just told me to wear a tin foil hat,and he won't be able to do that anymore. It really sucks that the so-called "fair and balanced", news station, is really nothing more than a propaganda mouth piece for this administration! After7 years has anybody noticed that the president does just the opposite of what he says he's going to do.when it comes to domestic issues? Shouldn't "no child left behind" have been called "dumb them on down, so they will be so stupid they will believe anything we say",,but..that's just me talking again...

Christmas is a day for Christians to celebrate Jesus' birth. It is a joyus day for all Christians around the world. Why are you so angry about it? You obviously know your stuff and I do appreciate your knowledge and lesson in history...but no matter the current Christmas holiday got here....it is here and it makes us Christians happy. Would you rather we stop celebrating Chirstmas....would that make you happier? Let me know.

Merry Chirstmas

Christmas is the acknowledgment of Christ's birth.
There are symbols that are pagan.

There is a war against Christmas and all things Christian.
There is outrage if someone mentions the Christian part of Christmas.
Yet we will allow pubic school to teach Islam and give them Islamic names nothing.

I digress if you don't like Fox News don't watch it.
You can turn to CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, NPR, etc etc to find your brand of news.

The Bill of Rights starts off with Freedom of Religion and it seems you should read and consider how free expression is allow follow by Free Speech.

On both counts Fox has the right to report it and you should be a bit more tolerant to different views.

Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas.

I hope so because it's true. Everyone in big business is so afraid they won't be politically correct that they're afraid to say "Merry Christmas". I think the controversary did cause some businesses to change this policy, so it worked. Regardless of the history of why we celebrate Christmas, and the mass marketing of it, it is still a wonderful time of year to a lot of people, a time for family, friends to slow down and appreciate life and their faith!
