Why are women and children mentioned specially in such incidents? Does it mean no one cares if men die or are killed?

i think that it is almost 'common place' for a man to die in combat situations.. raids, what have you...
since the beginning of time, it has been the men that stood up and took the fall to protect their family and homeland.
i guess it's because usually when they mention that women and children die, it is because they 'had nothing to do' with whatever was going on....
did any of that make sense?? i just came in from 7 degree weather.. and my head isn't working right?!?!!?

Did you not know this type of thinking made men into heros?
Men protecting women and children from harm, men putting women and children first and men thinking women and children HAD to be taken care of because they are the weaker.
I don't believe men should be left to die or be thought of last, but I don't believe in heros either. I think, with the way the world is going, you won't have to worry about women and children first being the way it is much longer. ( I am being totally serious on this )

Yea I agree with you. Totally not fair..and I am a woman!...I mean there are males included in the "children" part too..and mostly MEN are the ones scarificing theirselves for the country BLAH! They need to change that terminology!

It's the old school mentality. Look at the Titanic, the men stayed aboard and drown because they gave their life boat seats to the woman and children.

figure of speach ---this is a situation where only men are concerned, but alas! women and children equally were equally there where they should not have been.

of course they care, but, women and children are supposed to be the defensless ones who shouldn't be killed. (totally sexist ik but whatever)
