I want to start an online business selling clothes. I would need the site in both English and Traditional Chinese. I also want to use Paypal as my credit processor. I only want something basic so I can be up and running. How much would something like this be?

designers making websites like this in england can be employed by the hour. their hourly rate is about £15 -20

if you want a web presence (basically your own web address, with a page saying who you are and what you do etc) this will take about 20 hours to establish (unless you want really nice graphics everywhere where it will take longer) plus the cost of registering your web address etc.

your problem will be that you'll have a growing and changing catalog of goods to sell..each change will take time, and cost money!

better that you either specify to the web designer that you need to be able to maintain your own photos, descriptions and prices of goods from the start. it will take them significantly longer to build in this feature, but will pay off in you saving them doing each update every time.

there will be sometimes also be an annual renewal fee of around £50 especially if you want functions like your own email addresses. (you@yoursite.com)

seriously, you would probably be better off setting up an ebay store to start with.

it could be something cheap or extremely expensive,
you first have to line up all the features you absolutely NEED, then add those you can live without. With such a scheme call some webdesigners and ask for a price. It's hard for them to define it without knowing PRECISELY what you would like, and you could waste your and their time. Or you can tell them you want to pay only around X so they can show you some different solutions with eventual options to manage...

Paypal has an online help that can give you all the answers you need AND you can even phone and talk to someone to have more detailed explainations :)

Have a great business!

Hi, The thing is, you probably don't need to pay someone to do it. You can download a myriad of free shopping cart scripts that look bloody good and work really well straight from the box. Some of them give you a very easy to use web based interface that will allow you to add or modify products about as easily as posting on this site. If you don't know how to install web scripts, I can do it for you free, since it only takes a few minutes. You then spend a couple of hours making it look 'right' and adding your products.

You'll need to build a list of requirements and then get quotes from a few different design firms.

I'd suggest picking firms in your local area so that you can set a face-to-face meeting.

Give http://www.agencytool.com and http://www.designfirms.org a look, they both have high-quality designers listed.

best things to give much mre details or give a specific site as an example ( something very close to your idea) and show that to a web developer. Get several quotes.

depends on the country you are in, In the Uk there are varied types of solutions, your domain name registrar may be able to provide a total service - design your website, host your data and give you ftp access to upload and update pages daily.

depends on many factors - including whether you're hosting your own, or paying a company to do it

also, whether you want to essentially put it together yourself (fairly easy using programmes such as publisher or front page) or again, pay someone else to
