Anyone knows the name of a recently published book about Singapore's forefathers? Interviews on prominent people in our history?

All I know is that Singapore was established by a British subject looking for a good business opportunity. He found that the island of Singapore was right in the area that allowed ships to sail through the various islands there.
He set up a town and a fort and started making tolls to go by the island, making it a thriving port and wealthy city.
