How do you calculate the area of a trapezoid if the units are in fractions?
Base #1: 3/4 (thats a fraction... 3 over 4)
Base #2: 1/4 (also a fraction... 1 over 4.)
Height: 1

How would you calculate the area of this trapezoid?

I already know the answer is 11/24 (11 over 24)
But how do you get there?

area = (3/4 + 1/4)/2 (1) = (4/4)/2 (1) = 1/2

A = (1/2) (3/4 + 1/4) (1)
A = 1/2 units ²

area of a trapezoid = 1/2 height (sum of bases)
= 1/2(1)(3/4 + 1/4)
= 1/2(1)(1)
= 1/2
