I was thinking of starting a farm in a few years. I'd like to sell organic chicken eggs and probably grow some type of produce. Does anyone have any tips for starting a farm? I really have no idea how I'd go about doing it?

How do you sell eggs and other produce commercially? Do you need a license or anything?

well i might be able to help, in Ohio there is an organic farmers union, and the members have all agreed to be bound to adhere to a high standard of organic farming excellence.
how large are the acres, that you have to work with, 5, 8, 15,25,40? additionally as you would want income on a yearly basis should you not desire to have several cash crops and not put all of" yer aigs ana basket"(sorry for the pun)
Look one type of crop won't do, as simple to grow and widely accepted and almost idiot proof are the following, blueberries, strawberry's, cherry and regular tomatoes, squash, raspberries.
many years ago the Mississippi State dept. of Agriculture designed smaller self sustaining farms with plots of 2 acre up to 20 acres and the crops and infrastructure required to execute them successfully. the reason it would have magnified the farmers incomes by an average of 8 fold. the drawback it was labor intensive and did not allow for heavy use of machines.
All most all "farming " states have connected to their states university systems what are called county extension offices and agents, i made good use of their free help when i raised pumpkins.
organic almost always is small scale better quality higher prices, so i do not think you can earn a living from just this idea.
