1. Corruption- if the whole revenue of the government acquired from taxes are used for the development of the country rather than going to the pockets of those corrupt officials, then the development transition will be easier and faster. The budget should be used primarily for development like education, health care, roads, bridges, etc.,

2. Education- it can affect the development of the country but not instantly. If the government prioritized education it will produce a more efficient skilled, and productive citizens which in turn increase the income of the whole country. The effect is for the long run.

3. Poverty- I think the main solution for poverty is to educate the citizens, providing health care and a decent jobs.

4. Employment- it's either there are lots of skilled labor but not sufficient job or there are lots of job opportunities but insufficient participants. Either way it's the problem that need solution. A country needs more producers than consumers.

5. Politics- Yes, economics and politics are like inseparable twins. One cannot act on its own unless your a full-blooded follower of capitalism. Some economic opportunities comes from different policies, agreements, foreign relation, and other political factors.

6. Health care- a healthy citizen is a productive citizen. Nothing more to say, it's common sense.

7. HDI- is the measure of life expectancy, literacy, education, and standard of living for countries worldwide. It is a standard means of measuring well-being, especially child welfare. It is used to determine and indicate whether a country is a developed, developing, or underdeveloped country and also to measure the impact of economic policies on quality of life.

8. Transportation- the geography of the country. Providing an excellent transportation like highways, bridges, railroads, etc. is vital for the development of a country. It means a more productive and efficient transaction across the country. The traffic is also a big problem.

9. Self- if you don't trust the government in its task on developing the country at least you should do your part to help improve. Example is paying the right taxes, discipline, faith, patriotism, and simply being a good citizen.

10. Industrialization- I think a developing country should focus on becoming a manufacturer itself. Developed countries are those that are fully industrialized (ex. Singapore, Japan, USA). No one has ever heard of a developed agricultural country (email me if there is).

11. Love your Country- as simple as that.

How does a country go from a less developed to a more developed country?
I don't think there is one easy answer that fits all, but let's look at a few who have done it:
Ireland in the past 20 years has come a long way. How did they do it? Joining the EU was really good for them, I would expect this to be the case for newer nations signing up fir EU as well. Ireland also improved education and infrastructure. But probably the biggest plus was the stable government and well developed legal and financial institutions.
How about China of late? A huge work force that was largely idle has really helped them. And again, stable government (fairly stable), that began to court foreign investment, and made infrastructure improvements.
Now let's compare to countries that have gone down hill fast, say Zimbabwe. All you need is a government that doesn't care about the people. Upset the productive elements in your nation, unstable legal system, rampant inflation (I heard 8000% inflation, how do you even get inflation that high?).

To be a developed country,a nation has to progress on all parameters like education, health, infrastructure,industries,commerce/trade,agriculture ,research &development and also it's own core competencies. Watch out for China and Indian in the coming 3-4 decades.

I think the people should stay in their un-developed country and make something of it instead of moving to the UK

Also take Nigeria for example they are rich with oil but due to having a military dictatorship there people are poor, what a crime!!
