Does anyone (besides me) remember that incredible start the 1984 Tigers got off to?
My question is do you think this 2008 team could exceed that mark?

Yes,this team seems very capable of repeating 1984...we got alot of dangerous hitters...I hope our bullpen does better this year...killed us last year.

35-5 i think is a little out of sight don't you? I am sure they can be great!!! but remember this is just a paper team right now, lets wait until July and see where it leads!!!!

If you look at the Yankees line up for the past few years "on paper" wouldn't you think that is the favorite? A-rod, Jeter, Giambi, Sheff, and all the others, not to mention the pitching staff they "had"... paper teams are exactly what it is "paper"....team chemistry + coachability+ no injuries= championship without that, have nothing and not to mention a little luck always helps too!!

I believe in that we can exceed. I am 34 years old and I remember watching the Tigers win the world series in 1984. Sparky Anderson was great. I'm going to try to change my picture for a minute so you can see what I look like.

I doubt it if that will happen.Hey you should be more concerned about how they finish not how they start.Yes,I remember 1984 the Tigers were a unstoppable force back then.Isn't that the same year where the Baby Bears blew it in the play-offs,Steve Garvey crushed their Dreams yet again.I hope Detroit beats those Redsox, you got your work cut out for you my friend.

They could but it really depends on how the pitching performs...if Willis is the only "upgrade" the Tigers get for pitching they better hope their starting rotation pitches a lot better than last year...right now the Tigers seem like they are built to win the Central but be one and done in the playoffs....I guess they could slug their way to 35-5 but I just think they need to get some more pitching.

35-5 looks unrealistic even for a very solid team like the Tigers.

On paper, they look pretty strong for next year. But 35-5 would be pretty tough for even the best of teams. But I guess anything can happen; that's why they play the game.

I don't know if you watched last season, but the Tigers were not that great last year! You added to make your team better, but HOW better? Your guys will not win 90 games next season.

Tigers landing Cabrera and Willis is huge... but... surpassing that 35-5 record is a difficult talk... if this was "odd makers, on PTI" I would say 3%.

I don't remember that, seeings as how i came 9 years later.

But anyway, I don't think they will cuz they traded really good prospects (Jurgens, Miller, Rabelo) for old players that don't have much time left in their career anyway.
