she did ask me twice though, once in the beginning of the exam and once in the middle of the exam ... just thought it was a bit strange?!!

If you were having any kind of lower abdominal pain they will check for ovarian cysts through a pelvic exam. They usually ask when you had your last period to make sure you aren't pregnant or have any other reproductive abnormalities that cause a missed period or absence of it.

In addition to finding out if there's a chance you might be pregnant they also ask about last periods because if you haven't had a period for about 3 months or more it can also be an indicator of a hormone imbalance such as due to the thyroid or other one called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

because some cysts cause heavy bleeding and make you bleed before your period and the docter was probally just checking
