You can go swimming during your period but only if you wear a tampon. If you try to go swimming with a pad the pad will bloat up from holding the water.
As for it hurting when trying to insert a tampon yes it can if it isn't inserted right. The way I knew it wasn't inserted right was if I had a lot of pelvic pain and couldn't get comfortable in my chair. If it was in right I would not notice any pain.
Using a tampon may stretch or break the hymen but it will not cause you to lose your virginity. The true sense of the word "virgin" is someone who has never been sexually active. The hymen (the thin layer of skin around the vaginal opening) can break for other reasons such as a fall.
I would recommend talking with your mom as well because she can give you even more information.

You can go swimming. Many times it good for that time of the month due to the exercise you are getting.......exercise tends to ease sometimes even take away the cramps you get(if you get cramps).
No..it shouldn't hurt when you put a tampon in. It may feel a bit weird when you are putting it in but not hurt. IF it does hurt...your tampon is either too big...or your putting it in at the wrong angle...or you are not letting yourself relax enough.
Tampons can sometimes damage a womans hymen yes.......but that shouldn't matter much SINCE some women aren't even born with them...and you can damage your hymen by many other ways..such as exercise. That isn't really what determines virginity...what determines if you are a virgin or not is if you have had sexual intercourse or not. Since you a tampon doesn't qualify..no you can not loose your virginity to a tampon.
How you know you have put a tampon in right....well...you shouldn't be able to feel it once it's in...and you shouldn't be able to feel it outside your vagina. Like if you put your finger on the outside of youself standing up strait you shouldn't feel it....if it's anyway uncomfortable it's most likely too far up inside you..or it's not up inside you enough...or too big like I said before.
In the beginning it's best to start out using tampons called Lites or Juniors....they are the best. They won't give you trouble they are smaller..they are thiner...you shouldn't have any problems from them. You are much more likely to have trouble with other types of tampons. You can use the others if you want......but I highly recomend using just the lites or juniors for a while.

You can't go swimming because the blood will get into the water. It's embarrassing and uncomfortable. Unlessss you are using a tampon. And it doesn't hurt to put a tampon in, unless you aren't on your period. And even then it doesn't hurt it just feels weird, I would advise you not to put it in when your not on your period just for practice... It's pretty simple to put in you just have to read all of the directions that come in the box very carefully. It has like a diagram that shows you how to do it also. And be careful cause if you keep it in for longer than 8 hours you can get a very rare but deadly disease called toxic shock syndrome, you can prevent it from picking the right size ( Junior (or lite) is for very low flow, regular is for, well, regular flow, super is for heavy, and super ultra is for extra heavy) for more info on TSS here's the link
http://www.toxicshock.com/
And lastly you can NOT lose your virginity from using a tampon that is just the most ridiculous myth ever.

Yes, you can swim when you have your period using tampons. The pack does have pictures inside as to how to insert it.
It will not take away your viginity. You need to insert it as deep as your middle finger. You will know that it's in correctly because you won't really feel it anymore.
The first time that you want to use one, do it on a very heavy day. Remeber to try and relax. If you're tense, all your muscles will be tense and it will make it harder to insert.
Rember to change it regularly as it is associated with Toxic Shock Symdrome.
Oh, and lastly, always wash your hands before and after.

You can but ONLY if you use a tampon or moon/diva cup. Your period will NOT stop nor will it slow down when in water. It only LOOKS like it does, but in reality it gets dispersed throughout the water.
Virginity means you haven't had a penis in your vagina, therefore using a tampon will not lose your virginity.
Get the thinnest lightest absorbency tampon (Tampax Pearl Lites I highly recommend) with a plastic applicator and read the directions on the instructions provided.

I won't repeat what everyone else said cause it's all good, but just on a personal note. I used tampons for years (about 15 years) and didn't lose my hyman. It probably had stretched out a bit, but trust me I know the day I lost it! LOL

First of all going swimming while on your period is down right nasty!! I wouldn't even put anyone through that and not knowing who is on their period while I'm in the water is even worse. But some women do that because lets face it some women are nasty!! Also if the tampon hurts while it is in you, most likely it's in wrong.
