I had a LOT of negative experiences with online dating. But once I got to about guy 12 or 15, I ended up marrying him. So, it worked for me, though I cannot guarantee it will work for everyone, but I see nothing wrong with trying.

Probably because when one is on-line, he/she can maintain a degree of anonymity, and get away with a lot more. Also, it is a forum where adults AND children converge. Hence the growing problem of predatory pedophiles.
I agree that it shouldn't turn people off the Internet completely, but people (especially younger people) should exercise caution.

Because people who complain all the time always find something to complain about
what you described just happens to be the current "in" thing people like to focus on to say there are reasons why they are alone, and that the problem is with everyone else and not them.
