Ace of Base went from being a completely out-of-nowhere phenomenon back in the '90s to the "where are they now" status of pretty much every Euro-pop act that emerged at the time. Sad, because they really are a great pop group. Their last album was 2002's "Da Capo", which had limited European release, but according to their website they are working on a new album which would be their fifth studio release (sixth if you count their greatest hits), and apparently Malin (the blonde one, if you remember from the early videos) is no longer part of the band. Which is sad. :(

According to Wikipedia, they will have a new single in 2008.

Background: Ace of Base have won a number of awards and broken records. Their first album The Sign was given the Guinness World Record for "Best-Selling Debut Album". Combined sales of Happy Nation and The Sign are thought to have now reached 23 million. It reached the number 1 position in at least thirteen countries: Argentina, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom and United States.

In 1994, The band were awarded two American Music Awards including "Best Single" for "The Sign", which was also certified the year's best-selling single at the Billboard Music Awards. In addition, they received three Grammy nominations, including "Best New Artist" (won by Sheryl Crow).

They are in elevator music now. No offence but who cares. They were just as annoying as Abba.
