Brutal military dictatorship pretending to be interested in moving towards democracy but doing nothing other than killing protesters.
Same thing that has been happening there for decades.

Except for a couple of PR exercise (military junta talking with Aun San Syuu Kii; UN rep Gambiri), it's repression as usual for the masses and trade with the handful of countries who worship the 3 monkeys - see, hear, do no evil.

The only way to rid the country of generals is to do a Saddam and that's not going to happen at all (Burma do not threaten any country); is relatively peaceful and a military dinosaur. Sorry folks, Burmese need to make huge personal sacrifices to affect any kind of change... this too is not likely. They tried but the international community just criticize the regime - talk is cheap!

A brutish uncivilised regime is allowed to exist because of trade with neighbouring countries.

Their condemnation of the regime and self appointed "generals" is tempered with their self interests and profit.

The Burmese people are the only ones who can overthrow the masochistic barbaric generals rule ONLY with the help and support from abroad. Hundreds perhaps thousands have been massacred or "disappeared". (Pakistan going the same way)
