Unless it was the placebo week by chance that you missed, then no you can't miss a week. Your packet should say but I'm guessing you'll have to use condoms for at least 7-14 days, maybe the whole month. Read the info supplied in the pill packet (it should explain) and/or talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
By the way, if your illness has required you to need cold and flu medications or antibiotics, these can also interfere with birth control pills too and you are meant to use back-up contraception as well for 7 days after going off the meds.

I'd use a back up method for at least a week of active pills, just to be on the safe side. If you've missed a week, you probably aren't protected right now.

It wont be effective at all, specially if you missed it at the beginning of the cycle. Thats when the hormones stopped you from releasing eggs. Missing one pill for more than a couple of hours and greatly reduce the effectiveness. So to put it bluntly, you're screwed for this month. Use a condom and be prepared next time.

Absolutely it is a problem. The pill is no longer effective in your body. You need to start over like you are taking it for the first time. You will need to wait to have sex, or use a back up form of birth control again, just like before.

You need to take the required amount per cycle for the pill to stay in your system and to work properly.
Also when you were ill did you have sickness and diarrhoea as this can stop the pill from working also some medications such as anti-biotic will prevent the pill from working

Yes, it is a problem and your pill is unlikely to be effective, you must use other methods of contraception for the time being if you do not wish to become pregnant.
The only time you can miss a week and still be safe is during the 7 day break to allow you have your period : )

Yes, it is a problem. Even if you miss ONE pill out of your packet you can't have unprotected sex for the next 7 days, let alone missing a weeks worth. These guidelines should be supplied with your pill packet, have you read it?

You will have no cover until you have been back on the pill for 10 days. Even one missed day reduces your cover!
