Are we a virus:

Characteristics of a virus:
-Parasitic, feeding on and using host without regard to its well being.
-Non sentient
-Not made of cells
-Only intention is to reproduce (in fact doesn't even HAVE an intention)

Are we one?
A lot of us are parasitic.
We are all sentient and aware of our existence.
We are all made of a complex network of cells.
Our intention vary greatly. Some want to learn about the world, other want power or money, while other just want to survive.

Conclusion: We are clearly not a virus

Are we a cancer?

The only difference here is that cancer IS made up of cells.

That still doesn't make us a cancer.

What if we are a virus/cancer?
Then the world clearly needs chemo and a good bowl of soup.

MAN BELONGS ON EARTH. We are not the virus or cancer, but some of our actions are detrimental and we must learn to be green.
But the earth has no value at all if man does not live here. Yes, it would support animal life, but do you think they think about it? Do you think they care, beyond their own pride or pack or herd or school. Do you think they ever wonder how they can get enough food when it is scarce?
Man thinks about things like that, and he can do things about it, but he does not need to be less than green.

The philosopher John N. Gray certainly believes we are. I have asked a question on Yahoo! Answers (as yet unanswered) about his philosophy, because personally I do not know.

However, according to Gray we are like parasites on the earth. He subscribes to the Gaia hypothesis, which consider the entire biosystem of the earth as a living organism.

As for how it's going to play out, he suggests that the Earth will destroy us before we destroy it. Incredibly pessimistic, I know!

No, we are life highly evolved "life" forms. However the cities and other non-living things we build in order to be more secure and comfortable are very much like cancer.

You will notice that humans living very closely with their environment and have reverance of their life support systems have absolutely no resemblance to anything toxic. But they have learned to accept their lives as they are. We "civilized" people haven't. We feel the need to mold our environment to meet our immediate needs with little concern for the long term future. But it is a natural thing to ensure the survival of the species. Probably our toxicity comes from having such a large, sophisticated brain and nimble fingers but not the wisdom to use them properly.

we arent virus they are senseless animal we have six senses as an animal,we are not destroying or you may say their is no harm to earth because it is a lifeless part,we are harmful for ourself only not for others..........
we are not virus really because each and every person have a good human and bad human in them and atmosphere around him generates or defines him for further life..........
thats it if you dont wanna call ourself a virus then just make change yourself be good for some one and this happens may be you can change the human being not the world.........

Divine Love is the antidote for such.

"The Soulless One," Mark Prophet, "Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton, and "The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil," O. M. Aivanhov, are worth reading re this topic.

kindly,

I'd say we are pretty much like cancer. We feed off the planet and don't give anything back to it... well most of us don't. At some point we'll reach a breaking point where we'll have to change or die. Hopefully we'll change first, we're SLOWLY starting to come around with the oil problems, but there's still plenty to do.

we are not virus from the birth, but as we become grow n grow, we do the things for our selfishness, or enjoy or can say to complete our wishes -- result destruction of nature and natural things.

Again if start to live with nature with love n peace. if have satisfaction in whatever we get don't wish other thing. then we can come out form it.

Haha ok matrix-boy. Well, we aren't anything like a virus physiologically...a virus isn't even technically an organism.

But metaphorically speaking, that is somewhat true. I think we will eventually destroy ourselves, probably indirectly through the way we treat our planet.
