All this transcendental nonsense obv comes from heathen meditation stuff. We have proved science is not only ungodly and heretic (bcause it contradickts the bible) but wrong..now we can prove all the maths nonsense with its squiggly greek letters instead of real numbers heresy too. I think we should ban all maths books with stuff from pythagoras an euclid since they were heathens too. If that bit was wrong all the other stuff 'bout creation in 6 days an' noah an' the flood would be wrong too! which they obviously ain't cause its proof written in the holy text. im not usually one for copy and pasting but..
The bowl is said to have had a circumference of thirty cubits and a diameter of ten cubits. The diameter is said to be "from one rim to the other", so this would be the outer diameter; that is, the diameter of the outer mold used to make the bowl.
The outer diameter, from rim to rim, was ten cubits.
The circumference is not specified as being the inner or outer circumference, but since using the outer circumference would give us the "ideal" bowl (with no width or thickness), let's instead use the inner circumference, which also, reasonably, would have been the circumference of the mold used to form the inside of the bowl. That is, we will use the two measurements which were necessary for the casting of the piece.
Using eighteen inches for one cubit, we have the following:
outer diameter: 10 cubits, or 180 inches
outer radius: 5 cubits, or 90 inches
inner circumference: 30 cubits, or 540 inches
To find the "Jewish" or "Bible" value for pi, we need to have the inner radius. Once we have that value, we can plug it into the formula for the circumference and compare with the given circumference value of 540 inches.
Since the thickness of the bowl is given as one handsbreadth, then the inner radius must be:
90 – 4 = 86 inches
Let's do the calculations:
inner radius: 86 inches
inner circumference: 540 inches
The inner radius and the inner circumference.
The circumference formula is C = 2(pi)r, which gives us:
540 = 2(pi)(86)
540 = 172(pi)
Solving, we get pi = 540/172 = 135/43 = 3.1395348837..., or about 3.14.
Um... Isn't "3.14" the approximation we all use for pi? Hmm.... I guess the Phoenicians were fairly accurate after all.

It is sometimes claimed that the Bible states that Ï is 3, based on a passage in
1 Kings 7:23 (ca. 971-852 BC)
and
2 Chronicles 4:2 giving measurements for the round basin located in front of the Temple in Jerusalem as having a diameter of 10 cubits and a circumference of 30 cubits.
Rabbi Nehemiah explained this in his Mishnat ha-Middot (the earliest known Hebrew text on geometry, ca. AD 150) by saying that the diameter was measured from the outside of the brim while the circumference was measured along the inner rim.
The stated dimensions would be exact if measured this way on a brim about four inches wide.
This is disputed, however, and other explanations have been offered, including that the measurements are given in round numbers (as the Hebrews tended to round off measurements to whole numbers), that cubits were not exact units, or that the basin may not have been exactly circular, or that the brim was wider than the bowl itself.
Many reconstructions of the basin show a wider brim extending outward from the bowl itself by several inches.

The verse of the bible does not say that pi equals 3.00 :
"And he made the molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and the height thereof was five cubits; and a line of thirty cubits compassed it round about."
It only tells you that the circumference of a round bowl is roughly three times its diameter. So when the diameter is ten units of any length then the circumference is more or less thirty units of that length. If you think about the words ten and thirty, you can honestly think of rounded values.
So it is manly an order of magnitude.
Your argument that the Bible gives wrong information would be true if the figures would be expressed with two or more significant digits. But both ten and thirty give only one significant digit so your claim is void.
By the way, your style of blasphemy qualifies you as somebody who needs further education.
If you want to be an active missionary of your alternate religion of "evolution out of nothing", then you have to learn a better style.

You seem to be neglecting the concept of propagation of errors. The values of radius and circumference are given to the nearest cubit. Normal scientific practice, if someone says something is 10 units, is to assume an error of ± .5; to assume they have rounded to the nearest whole number - otherwise they would have said 10.0 or quoted the precision of their measurement.
Now if you divide one uncertain number by another uncertain number, the relative uncertainty in the result is the root mean square of the relative uncertainty in the individual numbers.
Applying to this case means 30± .5 / 10±.5 = 3±.16
So in this case the biblical result is the same as the mathematical result within the accuracy of the given data.
No support from this physicist, and Christian, I'm afraid.
PS If you reckon it says "3.00" somewhere then you'll have to give me a reference, Otherwise I shall be forced to conclude you are a total dork.

Did you pass Jr. High geometry? You cannot have a circle ten cubits from rim to rim and thirty cubits in circumference. The math, which is a universal, provable system, doesn't work. Maybe in another dimension, which is where you must be living to make such a claim.

Interesting. Although if you're ever going to pass high school or college, you will need to at least 'play along' that it is 3.14. Whether you agree or not, if you try to use 3.00 you'll get failing grades.

An Pi isnt even a number, its a foodstuff. The value of Pi should be Chicken and Mushroom, or Beef in Ale or summat.
