For a deeper focus on the emotion coming from within, to taste it fully, without interruption of attention due to 'uninvited' inputs of external data through the open eyes !

I close my eyes to let my senses within my mouth be more strongly tuned in when I eat something sweet. When I stand in the rain and snow it is so that I can be in tune with the earth, I might breathe in the cold and clean air, that I might feel the snowflake actually land on my skin before it melts. When I love someone too much it is so that I can feel their energies, to help to fill their voids, to help heal them when they are in need. When I hear my favorite song I close my eyes so that I can picture in my heart and head how it makes me feel.
Closing our eyes brings one of our senses to a stop therefore heightening the others. It is the beauty of being alive! The power of being capable of choosing to enjoy each moment as if it were the first moment, this is a true gift at appreciating life.
Love that you appreciate those things in life, and when you have no sweets, nor rain or snow, nor love, or music that they are still captured from those moments, within our souls.
What an Awesome question~ HUGS

humans have sense, hear, sight, smell, taste perceptions.
when we eat something tasty, we want to maximize our taste perception of the scrumptous morsel.
when we stand in the rain we want to feel every rain drop dip on our body.
it is scientifically explainable why blind people have such good hearing and so many blinds are great musicians like ray, stevie wonder.
we normal people fortunately don't have a disability but when we are emotionally enthusiastic about an event, we want to maximize the sensory memory by shutiing out some senses that are not as important for the particular event.
if you're in drought stricken african country and you experience the rainfall, would you rather see it or feel it cool quench?

There is a greater holism, concentration of emotion, and focus with internal self-awareness. Typical use of vision moves focus of sensibility from energy-motion, e-motion, to gazing and conditioned response to outer, perhaps extraneous, data.
"The Way of Inner VIgilance," Salim Michael, addresses this; "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, and "Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton, are worthwhile in this respect.

The closing of eyes is simply a defense mechanism to keep the eyes protected. In order for our eyes to remain open, our mind must be alert so that it can have quick reflex action to protect the eyes from any perceived danger. This is why when we feel drowsy, or overindulged mentally with anything such as extreme enjoyment or pain etc. etc., the mind is otherwise busy and can not function alertly to protect the eyes... at such times, therefore, the eyes close down to protect themselves.

So we can see them closer or else, with open eyes it gets crowded; but of late even this is difficult as there are many crowding even in my closed eyes. Can we get some privacy at all or is the world too unaware of manners?????
