No we won't is not fair to some players that their teammates are cheating because they want to make it. Think about how many teams got screwed out of a chapionship. Do you really think Barry Bonds was the guy that has the most home runs last year somebody else deserves that honor.

I don't think steroid use is anywhere near as common as you think. In my experience, there are three types of clubs: a) nested, b) a star, c) clean. The clubs with a nest of steroid users are the ones like the Oakland A's of the 80s or the Texas Rangers of the 90s. The Bash Brothers were totally artificially enhanced. Some teams have one star, like Gary Sheffield, who juiced, but did so most privately. Other teams had a lot of pressure to stay clean, the White Sox were like that. Frank Thomas always intimidated people to stay clean. ((If you think Frank Thomas may have juiced, then you really know nothing about baseball.)) I for one, hate the juicers and think they should be treated like the gamblers pre-1919: they should all be banned for life.

And where does it stop?
Should be accept that college players use steroids so that they get noticed by pro scouts, maybe high school football players who need some size to be "seen" by the college scouts.
Let's just make steroids available OTC - like aspirin. Then anyone can take it to be one of the "beautiful people".
If it's wrong, and cheating, then its wrong. Even if we have trouble now trying to figure out who uses and how to deal with it - we need to deal with it. If not for us, then for the next gen athletes - - - our kids.
I refuse to believe that all athletes are all about the money. Maybe that makes me naive - but that's fine. If I truly believe it was all about the money - I would no longer be a baseball fan - just a money fan.

I've been accused of cheating before, that's why I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that babe Ruth did anything besides party too hard. I do believe Lance Armstrong is a guy who uses steroids or performance enhancing drugs, and plays the saint for fans. If he used pot or drank, he wouldn't be able to play the saint, everybody would figure he's not only just like us, he's worse than us, he's supposed to be special. Well, Lance Armstrong plays Mr special too damn well, I believe he's got something to hide, unless his genetics are half kryptonian.

I think that some of the so-called fans here speaking negatively about Barry Bonds and the drug using players are not sports fans at all. They try to back their facts up with stats and trivia, but actually dont see the real "bad guy" here, the drugs that most athletes are using to "supposedly" enhance their performance.
Why is it that all of these other baseball players that were caught with those drugs in their systems are not members of the 500 HR club or Cy Young Award Winners, if the fans think they know for sure that those drugs truly enhance performance via scientific study?
True fans could care less because I've never seen any of them throw back any of Barry Bonds' and other "drug using" slugger's batting practice or ingame HRs! If baseball were without HR's, drug enhanced or not, I could care less because it's not my body getting damaged by drug use, and those HR's sure are entertaining!
I think that the fake fans should go to the Yahoo Health or Liberal message boards and voice their opinions against drug use there..... Pro sports will have athletes "using", no matter how stringent the drug testing programs are..... Everyone wants to supplement their natural talent with "something else" and Barry Bonds is not the only one.....

I agree with you, and while we're on the subject, why don't they ever investigate pitchers. It's not like they never cheated before. Gaylord Perry's Vaseline ball is more famous then anything else he accomplished in his career. Instead congress makes a big show out of a panel created to expose steroids in baseball.(you know, so we will see our tax money isn't wasted) All the hitters denied using we're treated like lairs. The one pitcher (ol' bloody sock) denied steroids, and it was accepted as gospel. Pitchers have just as much to gain from steroids as hitters, they should investigate both, or preferably none.

i honestly beleive that team and the comish pushed for players to use . after the strike season i believe 94 they needed to do something to get there fan base back , and the homerun chase with mcgwire and sosa in 98 was the best thing for baseball. it brought alot of fans back

Why can't we just forget about it? America's past time has been made unclean. We all know that it has, so why don't we accept it? I don't know about you, but I think a true baseball fan would be a little mad that the sport he loves hasn't been what he though it was.
