Very likely yes; the fundie right has been having a low grade temper tantrum ever since Romney got into the race. He's making all the right conservative noises, but the fundies can't handle his faith.
Think of it this way: if Romney was an evangelical, nobody would have ever given a crap about Thompson.

His religion has been more of a hindrance to his campaign than a benefit. If he were protestant he'd be way up front.
