Rasmussan listed Huckabee as leading the other day. This surprises me, as I didn't expect that Republicans would go for a tax-increasing open borders supporting candidate. Nor did I think that they'd go for a candidate who is openly opposed to Evolution, as that would just make it too easy for the Democrats.

I'm aware that a Christian Right group declared that God had chosen Huckabee as their candidate recently after a sham poll following their debate a few months back. I'm also aware that there are alot of Evangelical Christians in the south. However, I didn't think that an Evangelical pastor would become a serious candidate.

How has this happened? Are the Christian Right people who are talking about starting a 3rd party if a "pro-family" candidate isn't nominated actually serious and not just bluffing?

If Huckabee is nominated, how big will the Democratic landslide be or does Huckabee actually have a chance to upset Hillary, Obama, or Edwards?

Your assumptions are all correct. Huckabee has gathered his bretheren from the Evangelical Christians who do not pareticularly like Romney because he is a Mormon or Rudy who is Catholic but with mixed signals on Abortion. Thompson doesn't have a chance because he comes off as lazy and not well informed. The other Repubs....oh, well, they are probably nice guys but they will never make it for president. If Huckabee is elected to run for presidential candidate and at this time it is possible, then either Hillary or Obama will knock him out of the race. Huckabee is undoubtedly a very fine man but most Americans do not like religion mixed in with politics. My preference at this time is Romney, however, I am not 100% certain that he can be a first class president. I need more time. But I will not vote for Huckabee (and since I'll never vote for Hillary or Obama) then I may have to wait out this election without voting. If they form another party with Huckabee then the Repubs are dead in the water. They can never win with such a huge split.

Huckabee is the flavor of the day. The mainstream media will continue to prop him up in an attempt to sway voters into a position that will favor the democrat candidate. The more people get to know tax hike Mike the less they will like him. This to shall pass

Huckabee is right on with the Fair Tax - Guiliani missed the boat on home mortgage deduction.

Guess Rudy buys into the Boss Hogg 10% of 10% of 10% sounds like a lot. BUT - only 45% of taxpayers file a Schedule A - and then - we only get to deduct a portion of the amount over $10,000 given by the IRS.

I earn about $26k - and I would have 28% MORE take home pay with the fair tax (including the prebate). I get to keep everything in my check - except insurances and 401(k).

Let's get rid of the IRS!

I do exactly no longer think of he's electable as President. i do no longer even think of he can win the nomination. it is in particular because of the fact of many of the flaws you stated. he's only too unconventional. the reality that he needs to alter the tax code thoroughly is something that neither Democrats nor Republicans want. it would be too complicated. i do no longer think of the Republican company fairly likes him, considering he sounds like he helps that no-one would somewhat help. The President would not fairly write regulations, you already know. it is the congress that does that when which the President signs and warning signs it. It only isn't smart why he would be massive on offering strategies that congress would not pass every time quickly. I additionally do no longer he can get human beings excited adequate.

I agree, people are looking for an alternative to Rudy and Romney , once it is found out that he is just another Neo-Con, Big GOvernment Liberal people will be looking once again.

Pro-Family, Mike Huckabee? I do not think ther is anything Pro-Family about Raising Taxes, there is nothing Pro-Family about how much we are taxed now.do not raise it .

Ron Paul would cut Taxes, he keeps trying as a Congressman but nobody wants to support less Government money

It was the natural path... Huckabee spikes in the polls to cause Giuliani & Romney to fall, then Paul rises to replace huckabee.

It ends up Paul, Huckabee, Thompson,Romney,Giuliani, McCain in that order lol.

They must keep mixing thigs up you know, its no fun if the same candidates are "winning the polls" the entire race!

*Thomas, THANKS for that link! Frank in the video was the pollster for a fox news debate, who asked the crowd 2 times about who won the debate. The first time giuliani didnt win. He changed a word (just like he said he did in this video) and he got the answer, the polltaker wanted (Giuliani) wow.... THANKS FOR THE VID!

Huckabee is definatly a favorite of the type of people on the right who take polls like that. If he's nominated I don't think he could beat Hillary only Julliani can do that. He could give Obama and Edwards a run for their money.

This fast rise means there is no longer a sense of security
In 3 to 6 months someone else can just jump in front of everyone

But there can be fast falls too

I suppose the religious issues are a factor but I like Huckabee's open, friendly, intelligent, and humorous manner and I think he understands what the separation of chuch and state means far better than Mr. Bush.
