I don't OC and i like my computer fast but i'm no Uber enthusiast when it comes to power

how do i make my go faster like my brother complains about lag on runescape, it's not graphically intensive so don't recommend upgrading the GPU

so would i see that much a difference?

what do you suggest about my RAM

does dual channel actually matter and in my situation is it enabled (for those 2 matching sticks of course)

Too much of ram isn't good. They put alot of unnecessary strain on the memory controller. 2Gig of mushkin would have been good enough for your system

If you really run any application that use more than 2Gig, your CPU and graphic card would have been down on its knees anyway, so pratically you don't need that much ram.

Anyway some few stuff to check about that game. Try turning down its quality. And check in game setting, as well as your driver (catalyst control center) ensure that antialiasing and anisotropy filtering is turn off. A game that isn't graphically intensive doesn't mean your card can take such setting. Ensure they are turn off.

Other than that, if it isn't graphic, then most probably the CPU is the culprit. It its a budget dual core CPU, and older games doesn't utilize multicore processing, so it will only run as fast as 1 core performance.

Dual channel does help, yes. But here is your problem: your RAM is too varied. Even though you have 2 800s, a 900, and a 667, all 4 sticks are running at 667. If you use different speed RAM, it's always going to run at the speed of the slowest stick. You will probably notice a decent increase in performance if you use all 800 or all 900. Hell, it might even help to just use 4x 667.

yes it will work but the downside is that it will work slower than the ddr2 800. you see the ddr are compatible with all ddr and the ddr2 are compatible with all ddr2. they did this in order for memory to be easy to upgrade. in other words the ddr2 and ddr memory is backward compatible just like the ps games play on the ps2 but with worse graphics.
