Sorry, the only comic books I read as a kid were war comics.

I'm fifty-two years old. I want to go against everything I know and say Semper Fi because of that abstraction known as the Younger Generation -- but I can't. Joe Kubert's work on Sgt. Rock is as good as any comic book work of any type anywhere, ever. And you can bet that the people who followed him were all seasoned pros. A lot of good people worked on Semper Fi. An awful lot of good people. But Sgt. Rock is as good as anything that's ever been called comics -- Akira, Flash Gordon, Terry and the Pirates, Fantastic Four, Tarzan. It's that good.

Hard to choose, but my vote goes to Sgt. Rock and the men of Easy Company.

My favorites when I was a kid were:

Sgt. Rock
Blackhawk
Haunted Tank
