NUCLEAR RESEARCH FOR THORIUM REACTORS WAS EXTENSIVELY NEEDED BY INDIA FROM THE LAST 60YEARS. HARDLY TWO INSTITUTIONS ARE THERE FOR RESEARCH ON NUCLEAR SCIENCE .INDIA"S PROGRESS DEPENDS ON ENERGY. ENERGY IS TO COME THROUGH NUCLEAR RESEARCH(THORIUM REACTORS).DUE TO SHORTAGE OF ENERGY,INFAMOUS NUCLEAR DEAL CAME IN TO EXISTANCE.WHEN NUCLEAR DEAL CAME IN TO DISPUTE/CRITIC,GOVT. GOT DELIVERED THE STATEMENT IN THE TRIBUNE DATED DECEMBER 5,2007, ON PAGE NO-2(JOBS AND CARRIERS) FROM ANIL KAKODKAR (NUCLEAR SCIENTISTS)CHAIRMAN OF ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION THAT INDIA NEEDS MORE NUKE PROFESSIONAL.THIS NEED IS TAKING PLACE FROM THE LAST 60YEARS. QUESTION IS WHY KAKODKAR GAVE THIS STATEMENT AT THE *** END OF HIS CARRIER? WHY THE EFFORTS WERE NOT MADE BY KAKODAR IN HIS EARLIER CARRIER FOR OPENING A NUMBER OF NUCLEAR ENGINEERING COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES FOR CREATING A COMPETITION IN RESEARCH .NO DOUBT, IF 40YEARS AGO SUCH MORE INSTITUTIONS HAD BEEN OPENED THERE WOULD HAD BEEN A TOUGH COMPETITION IN NUCLEAR RESEARCH. CAN WE SAY, KAKODKAR WANTED TO HAVE A MONOPLY IN NUCLEAR SECTOR? CAN WE SAY THAT VARIOUS INDIAN GOVERNMENTS HAVE NOT TAKEN ACTION IN TIME DELIBRATELY AND ALLOWED THE RICH NATIONS TOTAKE THE ADVANTAGE OF CREATED WEAKNNESS BY INDIAN GOVERNMENTS?

EVERY HUMAN MIND HAS LAXAITY.SCIENTISTS HAVE ALSO LAXAITY AFTER GETTING A SECURED JOB IN THE UNIVERSITIES OR RESEARCH CENTERS AND RESEARCH IS SLOW ON THIS ACCOUNT.MORE OVER THEY WANT TO HAVE A MONOPLY ON THE GOVT. DEPARTMENT WITH LESS EFFORTS. CAN THE BOTH FACTORS BE ELIMINATED BY CREATING A COMPETITION BY HAVING A LARGE NUMBER OF SCIENTISTS IN THE FIELD OR DECREASING THE NUMBER OF SCIENTISTS IN THE FIUELD?

India needs professionals in all walks of development and not only nuclear research. Scientists are often known to guard their turfs very zealously. Kakodkar might well have been interested in being the sole figure in Indian nuclear research. Anyway, there are already a lot of prominent researchers in that area. Kakodkar and the government should do well to provide them with all kinds of assistance, including financial ones and not cry for what doesn't exist.

Great Scientists like ABDUL KALAM cannot remain idle if Indian govt. stands in the way of developing Neuclear Energy, the cheapest and widest producer of electricity.
